Uruguay
Spawned by Italian immigrants, Urugay's second-largest wine producer enjoys an climate perfectly suited for viticulture and revitalization.
With Carmelo’s inhabitants descendant from Italy, it is no wonder why Caremlo is the second biggest wine region in Uruguay. In this town there are a handful of boutique wineries, each with a personal story that add an element of hominess. These wines can stand with some of the finest in South America, and visiting one is not to be missed! On the Arroyo de las Vacas, there is a swinging bridge that was imported from Germany in 1912, used for when boats and yachts need to pass, the center of the bridge rotates 360 degrees to create room for the large vessels. Or, if you prefer art, check out the Jose Castro Wood Sculpture Planet. Literally at the back of a hardware store, you’ll find a surprising amount of wood carvings that depict different displays of humanity. Don’t underestimate Carmelo, it will impress you every chance it gets!
