This peaceful wooden church is a harmonious fusion of local and western architecture.
The Cathedral of Kon Tum was built by the French at the beginning of the 20th century. Blending the Roman architectural style with the traditional stilt houses of the Bana ethnic group, this wooden church is an exceptional marriage of Eastern and Western values. Built from dark wood with gilt accents, the ceiling and walls were built using a mix of soil and straw according to local techniques, and its altar is covered with traditional woven fabrics.
