Croatia
Croatia’s only cave park offers stunning stone formations in a secluded nature reserve.
Located in Perusic, Croatia, Cave Park Grabovaca is home to ¼ of the country’s protected speleological objects. High on a hill, the staging area offers panoramic views, but the park's real treasure is underground. Samograd cave provides visitors with a unique and unforgettable underground experience. Walk along 100-year-old hand-chiseled stone steps, through 4 vast chambers containing "geomorphologic monuments of nature", such as stalactites, stalagmites, pillars, natural bridges, and cave pearls. Appropriate footwear and clothing are a must for this stop, as the ground can be uneven and the temperature inside the cave is a brisk 7 degrees Celsius year-round. Should you find yourself with extra time on your stop, you can take in more of the natural beauty on one of the park’s many hiking and biking trails, or at the nearby River Lika.
