A symbol of Monterrey’s rugged, adventurous spirit, Cerro de la Silla stands proudly over the city and has captured the hearts of locals and visitors alike. It resembles a saddle or horseshoe when viewed from the west and has four peaks - Pico Antena, Pico Norte, Pico Sur and Pico la Virgen. If you’re in good physical condition, push through the heat and wind often encircling Cerro de la Silla and climb up its side - the view is worth it. It takes about 1 hour to hike to the viewing point, from which you will see an unforgettable panorama of Monterrey and the neighboring mountains, including the Sierra Madre Oriental. The mountain is also home to a variety of flora and fauna, including cactus, wildflowers, and birds such as hawks and eagles. It was declared a national monument by the Mexican government in 1991 and is a must-visit destination for anyone in Monterrey.
