Cerveny Kamen Castle

This well-preserved castle gives visitors a look into how noble lifestyles changed between the 15th and 20th centuries.

About

Founded in the 13th century, Červený Kameň was transformed into one of Slovakia’s mightiest in the 16th century. Shortly after, it became the property of the Pálfis family - important Hungarian aristocrats, who gradually altered it into a noble residence, and lived in the castle until 1945. One of the best preserved castles in the country, Červený Kameň now houses a branch of the National museum, offering visitors a look into the lives of the nobility over the years. A 60 minute guided tour brings visitors through the castle’s rooms, each fully furnished with art and furniture from the Renaissance through Art Nouveau eras. A longer, 75 minute minute tour will showcase these lavish rooms before bringing visitors into the castle’s underground where you’ll learn about its role as a Renaissance fortress. Throughout the year, the castle also host special events, including fencing festivals, falconry shows, and night tours. English tours have limited availability, so please visit hradcervenykamen.sk
