Chikin Ha

Three beautiful cenotes allow visitors to swim in and under the lush tropical forest, and partake in a Mayan ritual.

About

Surrounded by lush jungle, Chikin Ha is a small ecological park that preserves the region’s natural and cultural history through its three sacred cenotes. The eponymous Cenote Chikin Ha is a favourite among cave divers as a fold in the earth opens up into a beautiful underwater cave system. Even if you’re not here diving, it’s still a beautiful place to swim, or just dip your toes for a natural fish foot spa experience. In vivid contrast to the cool cave waters, Cenote Xtabay is almost entirely open to the sun. These clear, blue waters are teeming with life, with lily pads gracing its surface and turtles and fish grazing its bottom. Finally, there’s Taak-Bil-Ha, where a life-filled island is surrounded by sacred waters. Chikin Ha also offers a guided tour where you can learn more about Mayan culture and even experience a traditional ritual inside one of the caves!
