Latvia
Latvia’s only backlot gives visitors a behind-the-scenes look at Latvian history through recreations of early 1900s Riga.
Built in 2004 for the movie Defenders of Riga, Cinavilla was purpose-built to depict Riga as it was during the freedom battles of 1919. Used for other period pieces, visitors are can explore on their own, or take a tour of Latvia’s only backlot to see the church, bridges, market squares, and cobbled streets of Riga while learning about the film-making process, right down to the special effects. Afterwards, visitors can enjoy a meal at the movie-themed restaurant.
