This faithfully recreated coal mining town brings 19th century life to the present.
The Coal Creek Community Park and Museum was built atop an actual coal field to preserve and share the early history of life in Korumburra. From 1872 until the 1950s, the area was a major coal producer, and this faithfully recreated town shows how it all started. From detailing the life of Coal Creek's most successful mine manager to a fully-stocked general store, and other staple buildings like a bank and barber shop, both Coal Creek offers a glimpse into both mining history and daily life. Plus, there's a steam and diesel train you can hop on for a ride through the bush. Throughout the year, the Coal Creek Community Park and Museum also hosts special events, including a farmer's market every second Saturday of the month.
