Found by archaeologists in the mid 1900s, the Cochasqui has 15-stair stepped pyramids and 21 tombs. Their discovery unveiled that the monuments date as far back as 850 BCE until the Spanish Colonists in 1550 CE. Currently, this site is covered with overgrown earth and grass, and visitors can explore boundless amount land by hiking, as well as visiting several small museums: an archaeological museum, two ethnographic museum, a botanical garden, and finally, a wax museum. To make this site even more alluring, the Mojanda volcano (elevation of 4,263 meters) provides an amazing background to this already beautiful terrain.
