A few hundred Nile crocodiles, including the world’s oldest, and many other animals call this beautiful botanical garden home.
Crocworld Conservation Centre lives up to its name, housing a few hundred breeding Nile crocodiles in a 24 hectare botanical garden. The indigenous flora provides the crocs with as close to their natural habitat as possible, helping them live long lives, and giving visitors a great viewing experience. The star of the show is Henry, who was captured in 1903 after a local tribe put a bounty on his head for eating their children. Rather than kill him, the tribe wanted him kept in captivity as punishment. Today, he’s the world’s oldest Nile crocodile in captivity, living with his 10 wives, and producing over 400 babies a year. You’ll also be able to see several other crocodilian species, not to mention snakes, tortoises, caracals, jackals, meerkats, a host of different types of birds.
