Slovakia
One of the largest cave systems in Slovakia, the majestic cave formations and underground pools are as impressive as any man-made structure.
807 meters up in the Tatras, the Demanovska Cave of Liberty extends 8,126 meters into the mountains, 1,800 of which is open to the public. Within the cave’s extensive tunnel system, bones of the now extinct cave bear were found, giving the Bear’s Passage its name. Entering the Great Dome, which is 41 meters high and 75 meters long, feels like stepping into an underground cathedral. The cave’s size and depth keep it at a brisk 6-8 C year round, so have a jacket handy!
