The Rolls-Royce Museum, the most extensive of its kind in the world, houses more than a thousand exhibits, including a few dozen classic examples of this world-renowned company's automotive art. The museum also organizes special rides in selected vehicles. In contrast, the Flatz Museum (nothing to do with flat tyres), is a small two-room space dedicated to provocative Dornbirn-born performance artist Wolfgang Flatz; while the Kunstraum Dornbirn specializes in art-installations created by artists-in-residence. Nature's own dramatic handiwork can be enjoyed for free just a short walking-distance outside of town in the Rappenlochschluct, one of the largest canyons in Central Europe. Actually a complex of three linked gorges, served by an exemplary system of safe paths, steps and bridges, Rappenlochschluct, formed in the late ice age, is nature at her most spectacular and awe-inspiring. Not the least of the gorge's attractions is a huge waterfall halfway through the gorge complex, a mammoth tree and weird geological formations.
