Antigua and Barbuda
Offering an overview of Antigua and Barbuda’s history, this museum enchants with original stonework and panoramic vistas of English Harbour.
Dow’s Hill Interpretation Centre is a museum that offers a look at Antigua’s history, spanning from the Amerindian era to modern times. It's housed in what was once the 18th-century residence of the British Navy's General Officer Commanding, Archibald Dow. Destroyed by an 1834 earthquake but restored in 1989, the Interpretation Centre retains original stonework, adding a touch of historical authenticity. In addition to the museum itself, the building also features a café and a gift shop. While there, guests can enjoy a multimedia show about Antigua’s history in the comfort of an air-conditioned theater. Designed with children in mind, the museum is low-tech yet informative, ensuring an engaging experience for all ages. After exploring the inside, step out onto the viewing platform to enjoy panoramic views of English Harbour and savor the cool breeze. The Dow’s Hill Interpretation Centre is open Monday to Sunday, from 9 am to 5 pm; entrance fees might apply.
