A visit to this 18th century home allows the public to experience life from days gone by.
Opened in 1994, the Ecomuseu de las Valls d’Aneu seeks to educate the public on the natural and cultural history of the area through a unique conception which allows visitors to actively participate in the environment. The museum is not comprised of a single location or structure but, rather, is spread out across the region at a number of sites to give visitors an authentic look into the region’s culture. One of the museum’s most impressive exhibits is Casa Gassia, a well-preserved 18th century home dedicated to exhibiting domestic life in the area. The house maintains its original structure and remains one of the finest examples of what life was like without electricity or running water. A visit to Casa Gassia will transport you back in time and allow you to understand the day-to-day life in this once-thriving household.
