Israel
Established by Israel's only Dada artist, this quiet town is filled with artists who are happy to share what they do with visitors.
The Ein Hod Artists Village was established in 1953 when acclaimed Dada artist Marcel Janco convinced the government to allow him to establish an artists’ colony in an ancient village that was scheduled for demolition. Today, painters, potters, sculptors, writers, poets, and playwrights make up a large portion of the village’s 500 residents. Many of these artists open their homes and studios to visitors to showcase their creations and talk about their work. Many of the resident artists, including those who don’t open their homes to the public, also showcase their work in the Ein Hod community gallery, offering a survey of the diverse range of works produced by the village. The town’s other main gallery is the Janco-Dada Museum where you can see the works of the founder of the artists’ village and Israel’s sole Dada artist. For those looking for a more immersive experience, tours of the town and workshops can be arranged through the visitor’s center.
