Ecuador
This rescue and rehabilitation center is the perfect place to meet Ecuador’s wildlife.
The origins of El Pantanal date back to the 1980s when wounded birds and abandoned exotic pets were taken in and provided with a safe space. As the number of rescued animals grew, a larger space was needed, and thus, this large conservation center was born. Home to a large portion of Ecuador’s native flora and fauna, there are 60 endangered species protected in the center. On a guided tour, you’ll see native species include jaguars, spectacled bears, Andean eagles, Guayaquil’s only endemic macaw species, as well as exotic animals like lions and Bengal tigers.
