New Zealand
These enormous limestone formations formed the backdrop for Aslan’s camp in the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
Not to be confused with the seaside formation, the Elephant Rocks are the result of thousands of years of weather eroding the prehistoric Otekaike Limestone formation into a series of large, lumpy formations. Rising from rolling farmland, none of the rocks really resemble an elephant - it’s more the feeling a big, grey massing milling about. Fans of fantasy will recognize the rocks as the setting for Aslan's camp in the 2005 movie the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. And unlike many of New Zealand’s other famous filming locations, because the Elephant Rocks are off most tourist routes, you’ll likely only have to share them with a few grazing sheep.
