The remains of this Temple of Zeus are some of the best-preserved in Turkey - you can still see the temple donors’ names!
The Euromos Ruins are the remains of the ancient city of Euromos, which was abandoned around the 2nd century, likely because of the Antonine Plague. Despite having been abandoned for nearly 1000 years, the Temple of Zeus at the Euromos Ruins is one of the best-preserved in Turkey. Likely built during the reign of Emperor Hadrian in the early 2nd century, about half the temple’s Corinthian columns are still standing. Since only some of the columns are fluted, some archaeologists believe the temple is still incomplete - perhaps due to the city’s abandonment. On 12 of the columns you can see inscriptions naming the donor who paid for them. Walking around the site, you can also find the remains of the city walls, a section of the theatre, and an ancient necropolis.
