Everglades National Park

Located in the southern tip of Florida, Everglades National Park is the largest tropical wilderness in the United States, and unlike any other ecosystem on the planet. In the 1940s, Marjory Douglas led a successful campaign to make the Everglades a National Park, and to preserve it from any human intervention. Thanks to her, you can experience the everglades in its natural states, as it has been for time immemorial. Take a boat tour through the expanse, and find alligators, herons, frogs and other animals that frequent this unique haven. For a hiking trip, there are several trails with varying difficulty. The Anhinga Trail is a family-friendly trail where you can experience the beauty of the Everglades on an easy half-mile walk.
