An Incan king is said to have bathed in this volcanic hot spring for its healing powers.
Surrounded by “painted” mountains, the Eye of the Inca is a strange, near-perfect circle of bubbling sulfurous water. According to legend, the Inca ruler Huyna Kapac used to bathe in it to treat his health problems. Today, the 65-meter-wide volcanic lagoon with its rugged backdrop is a picturesque photo op while traveling through Bolivia’s southern highlands. While swimming is no longer permitted in the hot spring, there is another nearby where you can take a dip.
