Costa Rica
Amongst the lush rainforest, this organic farm is making its own chocolate and growing a variety of other fruits and spices.
Finca La Isla was founded in 1987 on the grounds of an abandoned cacao plantation. Today, this permaculture farm still grows its own cacao, along with various other fruit and spice trees. There’s also swaths of rain forest, adding a tropical nature park to this working organic farm. Here, you can enjoy fresh fruit, sample homemade chocolate, and learn about their tropical crops. A self-guided tour of the rainforest botanical garden is a great way to immerse yourself in Costa Rica’s rich ecosystem. Four kinds of poison dart frog live here, including an endemic species, as well as toucans, sloths, and many other varieties of tropical flora and fauna.
