Learn about the life and culture of Turkey’s famously hospitable nomads at this open-air museum.
For centuries, the Yörüks (nomads) travelled between the Turkish highlands and lowlands with their sheep and goats, subsisting on products they can make from their flocks. While this lifestyle is slowly dying out, their culture has been preserved at the Folklorik Yoruk Parki. Traditional tents have been filled with scenes of everyday nomadic life, complete with traditional crafts. The on-site cafe lets you sample specialties such as ayran (a yogurt drink) and gözleme (pancakes) while seated on the carpet-covered tent floor, or outside at tables overlooking the sea.
