These volcanically heated hot springs in the middle of the jungle were a favorite retreat for Central America's Napoleon.
The Fuentes Georginas hot springs were first discovered by local laborers in 1902, and originally served as a humble communal bath for people from nearby villages. In the 1930s and 40’s, the 'benevolent dictator' Jorge Ubico would requisition the baths for some weekend relaxation, and the site was named in honor of his wife, who was responsible for developing them into a jungle retreat. Surrounded by dense rainforests, the volcanically heated pools marry nature with spa-like pampering, while the network of hiking trails offer visitors to lose themselves in the jungle’s beauty.
