Fuzer Fortress

Castle of Füzér's history goes all the way back at least to 1264 when it was first mentioned. Its location on a steep 500-meter hill was no coincidence as the planners knew the dangers the structure will face. Soon after, the Mongol invasion took place and the castle served its purpose well and defended the attackers. Its importance grew up to the point royal insignias were kept within its walls. Several centuries came and went and ultimately, the castle was deserted and gradually fell into ruin. It was left to decay until 2012, where restoration work started. Along with stupendous views, the castle also offers guided tours and interactive exhibits to let visitors get their hands on medieval history.
