Greenville, ME

Nestled on the shores of Maine’s largest lake, this little town is big on outdoor adventures.

About

Located in the heart of the Maine Highlands, right on the shore of Moosehead Lake, Greenville has drawn outdoor enthusiasts for more than 200 years. You can take a ride on Maine’s last remaining steamboat,, for a cruise around the forested lake aboard The Katahdin, Maine’s last steamboat, which was built in 1914. Or stop by the Moosehead Marine Museum to learn about the lake’s long history. Surrounded by seemingly endless forests and mountains, you can enjoy Maine’s natural beauty year-round, from swimming and hiking in the summer to dog sledding in the winter. Spring is an especially popular time to visit, when the “Moosemania” festival is in full swing and moose sightings are in the hundreds. They even offer guided moose safaris!
