Here lies one of the oldest religious sites in the world, with an archaeological complex whose history spans over 5000 years and boasts a UNESCO World Heritage Site listing.
Ta' Qali National Park is a remarkable complex showcasing the ancient Megalithic Temples, located atop a promontory with breathtaking views of the surrounding fertile plain and the vast sea. The Ħaġar Qim complex is the centerpiece of the site, featuring a group of monumental megalithic buildings. The main building stands out with its unique external features and doorways, while the interior boasts a central passage paved with stone slabs and chambers with earth floors. Nearby, the Mnajdra complex consists of three buildings made from globigerina and coralline limestone. During equinoxes and solstices, the sun’s rays filter perfectly through the doorways, adding an alluring astronomical dimension to the temples. Explore the temples and learn about their rich history at the informative visitors center and watch and immersive 4D film for an atmospheric introduction to the site. After wandering through the site, nature enthusiasts will appreciate the waymarked trails in the park’s surrounding area, offering scenic walks and stunning views of the sea. The site is open from Monday to Sunday with an entry fee of €10.
