Australia
Wine isn't the only thing to treat yourself to at Australia's first "cool" vineyard - there's also a grass-fed beef market!
Hanging Rock Winery was established in 1983 John and Ann Ellis, who moved to the region with the dream of making Australia’s first traditional, cool climate sparkling wine. From a bare patch of land, Hanging Rock Winery spawned an entire wine-making region. Today, the winery has over 20 different wines for tasting, including their signature many that are exclusive to cellar door visitors. Along with tickling your tastebuds and learning about their traditional wine-making process, you can visit the Hanging Rock Beef market for steak, meat pies, or cured meats, all from cows that are fed grass and grapes and are at least 24 months old (as opposed to the standard 10 months). Visit between October and February to experience Art in the Vines - Sculpture Exhibition & Trail. Wander a trail of discovery, glass-in-hand, exploring the works of renowned local, national and international artists.
