Japan
Himeji is renowned for its castle, Japan's most visited, celebrated for its beauty, status as a national treasure, and UNESCO heritage listing.
Himeji is a city located in Hyōgo Prefecture in the Kansai region. Surrounded by mountains and the sea, the city is most renowned for its iconic landmark, Himeji Castle, which is considered Japan’s most beautiful surviving feudal castle. It's designated as the country's national treasure and is also listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Memorable for its pristine white color, Himeji Castle boasts a rich history that spans over 600 years. The current castle complex, which was completed in 1609, comprises more than 80 buildings interconnected by a maze of winding paths. The castle's gardens are equally captivating, adorned with cherry blossoms in the spring and flora that complements every season. Beyond the castle, visitors can explore the Koko-En Garden, situated adjacent to the castle, and the Engyoji Temple located on Mount Shosha.
