Jamaica
Discover the Blue Mountains' incomparable beauty and biodiversity in this UNESCO-listed rainforest.
Encompassing 300 lush acres of the Blue and John Crow Mountains National Park, Holywell Park is a refreshing escape from the bustle of nearby Kingston. At 3,000 feet above sea level, the rainforest is filled with life. The park is a paradise for bird watchers, being home to all 30 Jamaica’s endemic species, including the endangered Jamaican blackbird. The birds share the airspace with beautiful butterflies, and if you’re lucky, you might even spot an endangered giant swallowtail butterfly - the largest butterfly in the northern hemisphere. Along with the rich variety of flora and fauna, the landscape is made even more spectacular by waterfalls. There are a number of hiking trails of various lengths to choose from, which you can do with or without a guide, so choose your stop time accordingly. You can even stay overnight in one of the cabins! For more information on the trails, please visit https://www.blueandjohncrowmountains.org/do/walks-and-hikes/holywell-nature-walks
