Iceland
A variety of hiking trails allow nature lovers to experience a plethora of geothermal delights.
One of the largest geothermal areas in Iceland, Hveradalir is a delight for hikers, photographers, and nature lovers. This vast valley, surrounded by the colorful rhyolite mountains of the Kerlingarfjöll range, offers dozens of hiking trails where you can find bubbling mud pits, steaming vents, hot springs you can bathe in (and many more you can’t), areas of otherworldly desolation and verdant valleys. Hveradalir is only accessible during summer (late June to mid-September).
