Dating back to the 16th century, Ibague is a thriving mountain city in the heart of Colombia’s coffee country. To Colombians, it’s known as the "City of Music” thanks to the prestigious Conservatory of Tolima. A quiet mountain city, one of the preferred past times here is sitting in the Plaza de Bolívar and people watching. Filled with fountains and gardens, and watched over by the elegant Catedral Inmaculada Concepción, it’s a great place to unwind with some street food. The tamales in Ibague are said to be the best in Colombia, so grab one (or five), to see for yourself. Nature lover might want to pay a visit to the Fundación Orquidea to see rare flowers like the endangered Cattleya trianae, learn about orchids, and hike up to the mirador for some great views.
