Suggestive stone carvings suggest this may have been an Incan fertility clinic.
It wouldn’t be an Incan site of significance without a huge deal of speculation and conjecture to accompany it, and Inca Uyo is certainly no different. Filled with 86 stone phalli, this temple is said to have been dedicated to promoting fertility. It's believed women would sit on the mushroom-headed rocks and have corn beer poured over them in the hope that it would help them to get pregnant. Scientists have confirmed that the temple is from the Incan period, and stone working tools have been found nearby….However, it is also highly likely that the temple was altered by locals to attract tourists, and that the penis rocks were not always facing upwards. In fact geologists suggest that the stones came from elsewhere and are not local. Either way, it's worth taking a peep at this square filled with rocks that look like male genitalia.
