Cuba
Float down a subterranean river in this impressive cave once used by Cuba’s indigenous inhabitants.
The Indian Cave was named for the Guanajatabey Amerindians who took shelter here, and interred their dead in its depths. While the skeletons and indigenous artifacts have since been removed, you’ll still see some amazing stalactites, stalagmites, and flowstone as you work your way through a half mile of soaring chambers and narrow passageways. This pathway leads you to a pier where a motorboat will pick you up to take you down a subterranean river lined with even more impressive rock formations. While traveling through the cave, be sure to keep your eyes on the water as well to try to spot the blind crabs and see-through fish. The cave lets you out at a small encampment with drink stands and a restaurant serving up heaping portions of local cuisine.
