Ireland
Several thousand years of Irish history comes to life at this open-air museum.
The Irish National Heritage Park displays 9000 years of Irish history, from man’s first settlements on the Emerald Isle to the arrival of the Normans, all in one place. Covering 35 acres, a walking trail leads through Mesolithic campsites, Bronze Age ringforts and Fulacht Fiadh, Viking houses, and other historic landmarks up until the 12th century. The buildings here have been built as authentically as possible, with 400 Irish oaks being felled to rebuild the ringfort. Another walking trail winds its way through ancient alder and oak, past pools of water and patches of lichen in a wet woodland that looks much like it did to Stone Age settlers. Once you’ve built up an appetite, the on-site restaurant serves up delicious, traditional Irish fare. For more information, please visit https://www.irishheritage.ie/
