The James A. Garfield National Historic Site was home to the 20th President of the United States, and chosen specifically to keep his sons close to their Midwestern roots, and to teach them about agriculture and development. While congress was in recess, the president would spend his days in this elegant country home. Today, you can tour the beautifully reproduced rooms to learn more about the president's private life and 19th century living in general. Plus, as the first presidential library in the United States, its filled with artifacts and documents spanning Garfield's life and political career.
