Jameson Distillery Midleton

Home to the world’s largest pot still, this historic brewery introduces visitors to the past, present, and future of Irish whiskey.

About

In 1825, James, Daniel, and Jeremiah Murphy bought an old wool mill and converted it into what would become the Jameson Distillery Midleton. The brother made one of the largest and most technologically advanced distilleries of the day, with its 31,618 gallon pot still still holding the record for the largest ever built. In 1975, operations finally ceased, being relocated to the “New Midleton Distillery” next door. Today, the distillery is home to the “Jameson Experience” - a tour that explains the history of Jameson Whiskey and the distillery’s operation before that, which includes a film, and walk through the old distillery, which still has its original kilns, mills, maltings, water wheel, still house, distiller's cottage, cooperage and warehouses. And of course, there’s a tasting of Jameson afterwards. Small groups can put their tongues to the test to compare Jameson Whiskey, Scotch whisky, and American whiskey, to become a "Qualified Irish Whiskey Taster". It’s strongly recommended to book your tickets in advance at www.jamesonwhiskey.com
