This carefully preserved natural park features unique sedimentary rock structures and rare flower species, creating a stunning backdrop for hikers.
A stunning natural landscape created over millions of years of erosion and carefully protected as a formerly army-controlled zone, Shitoushan features an abundance of wildlife and diverse geological features. Visitors can enjoy the many hiking trails through immaculately preserved ecological zones. During the spring blooming season, hikers may be able to see once-endangered flower species that have been carefully restored, such as the Formosan lily and the red spider lily. One of the most iconic sights of the park is the Candle Holder Islets, a series of incredibly intricate sedimentary rock structures formed by sea erosion and plate movements. Updated opening hours and information on bike rentals in the park as well as other on-site amenities can be found on the Taiwanese tourism website, here: https://eng.taiwan.net.tw/m1.aspx?sNo=0002091&id=A12-00353
