Embark on an enchanting journey through the Junjianyan mountain range, along well-marked trails leading to a spectacular summit.
The Junjianyan Hiking Trail will lead you through an impressive mountain range with colossal white rocks gracing its peak, bearing an uncanny resemblance to a warship sailing triumphantly through the lush sea of trees. This awe-inspiring spectacle has earned the mountain the moniker "Junjianyan," or the rock of the warship. There are two routes leading to the mountain's summit. The first route winds through the back mountains behind Taipei Veterans General Hospital, near the substation. The second entrance is found at Beitou's Zhaomingjing Temple. Regardless of your choice, both routes offer an approximately 20 to 30-minute trek to the mountaintop. As you ascend, the trail unveils unique geological wonders. Junjianyan consists of the Mushan Formation, an ancient sedimentary stratum predominantly found in Taipei and Keelung.Fossils reveal the presence of ancient buried plants, which, over time, transformed into coal. Upon reaching the mountain ridge, you'll encounter robust sandstone formations that have resisted erosion, and a stunning view.
