Iceland
Mineral-rich soil has created vibrant blue waters, rich red ground, and green, green grass at this pretty crater.
Kerid Crater formed from a volcanic eruption about 3000 years ago. Unlike the black volcanic rock that dominates much of the country, the soil here is rich in iron, making it a deep red. This mineral-rich soil also affects the water in the crater basin, enriching it into a vivid aquamarine. Visitors can stroll around the rim of the crater to take in the many colors of the crater and surrounding landscape before descending a staircase for a view from the bottom of the basin.
