Botswana
Locals have revitalized the region’s ecosystem providing a home to rhinos and many other indigenous animals.
The Khama Rhino Sanctuary was established in 1992 to both save the disappearing rhinoceros and restore a once vibrant ecosystem. This community effort has successfully transformed the 8585 hectare reserve into a haven for wildlife. The black and white rhinos, which they’ve successfully bred to repopulate other parts of the country are the stars of the show, but the 30 other animal species, and over 230 types of bird that have resettled the park are equally amazing to see.
