Qatar
Located in southern Qatar, this extraordinary “inland sea” captivates with pristine waters and ever-shifting sands.
Khor Al Adaid Beach is a natural marvel of towering dunes, reaching heights of up to 40 meters, over a beach teeming with diverse marine life. In the morning, the beach transforms into a resort-like setting as the water advances onto the desert, creating a picturesque shoreline reminiscent of a lake. As the day progresses, the sea recedes, and the beach returns to its serene and desolate state. The rolling dunes change color under the golden sunset and transform the landscape into a magical place. Birdwatchers can spot cormorants, terns, fulls, ospreys, flamingos and migratory waterfowl, while oryx and gazelles occasionally visit and wander across the beach. Various types of fish, crustaceans and turtles are carried in by the sea. The beach was declared a nature reserve in 2007 and holds historical significance as a place of refuge for pirates from the Emirate of Abu Dhabi during the 19th century. It’s a remarkable landscape like no other, where tranquility and beauty converge in an enchanting coastal paradise.
