Koneprusy Cave

It seems quite extraordinary that one of nature’s most spectacular creations remains close to urban life but lies at the heart of the protected Czech karst

About

The Koněprusy Cave complex is located inside Golden Horse Mountain and was discovered as recently as 1955 and opened to the public in 1959. There are currently over 6,500 feet of corridors in the complex. The beauty of the underground rock formations coupled with the atmosphere and climate at 200 feet below ground makes for an exhilarating experience for every visitor. Eight chambers connected by walkways and stairs display stalagmites, stalactites and rock formations of all sizes and there are also historical artefacts on display that will surprise all who examine them. Access is only via a tour in Czech, but you don't need to understand the words to appreciate this underground marvel. Be prepared for a surprise as perspectives and senses change when underground — if you think you’ve heard true silence and experienced real darkness, then you may just need to think again. Temperatures in the caves are usually 10º Celsius, so provide the perfect opportunity to cool off on a hot summer’s day.
