It’s said that in order to not become a burden, groups of old men would jump to their deaths from atop this beautiful waterfall.
Koromosho Falls drops 70 meters over an escarpment, from the fertile plains above to a rocky riverbed below. Surrounded by boulders and trees, the powerful falls are one of Kenya’s hidden natural gems. A tumble over the precipice spells certain death, and according to locals, years ago men would come here when they felt they were too old to work and commit mass suicide. They would hold hands and sing their last songs before throwing themselves over the precipice in an honorable form of suicide known as “sheu” in order to not become a burden on their kinsmen.
