While Kozel literally means goat, this hunting lodge is actually decorated in the rich Rococo style inside.
Built at the end of the 18th century for Jan Vojtěch of Czernin, Kozel Chateau is a seemingly simple single story hunting chateau in the Classicist style. The interior, however, is an explosion of Rococo and Baroque opulence. Stunning stucco, vibrant frescoes, and even the original furniture transport visitors into the life of a nobleman. The original horse stables were even converted into a magnificent theatre. The beautiful landscape park surrounding the chateau is filled with a variety of unusual trees, and is a popular picnic spot among locals.
