Kunitama Shrine

Established in 1157, this shrine is revered as the guardian deity of both the feudal lord and the local populace.

About

Kunitama Shrine was enshrined when Masahiro Kunii, the feudal lord of the time, sought the Kasuga Shrine from Hitachi Province to bring peace to the land. The shrine's present appearance dates back to the 11th year of the Meiji era, with the worship hall reconstructed during the Showa era. In 1996, with the support of devoted worshipers, the shrine underwent further renovation. Recently, the addition of summer wind chimes has drawn crowds, offering a delightful and soothing experience. Boasting a serene and traditional appearance that reflects its long history and cultural significance, its architectural style aligns with the classical design of Shinto shrines in Japan, and is a gorgeous sight to behold.
