Follow the trail along this lake for one of the best views of the Torres del Paine’s iconic stone spurs.
Hugging the base of the Torres del Paine’s craggy peaks, the Laguna Azul paints one of the prettiest pictures in the National Park. Follow the 5.9-mile out-and-back trail along the lake shore for a constant view of the granite spires jabbing out from their rocky mountain cohorts. Along the way, you’re almost guaranteed to see guanacos and rheas grazing in the rolling grasslands, condors soaring overhead, and swans and flamingos plying the waters of the lake. The final leg of the trail ascends to a lookout point offering a panoramic view across the lake to the mountains beyond. If you’re not up for the full hike, or are traveling with young children, you can also take the much shorter trail to the Sierra Masle lookout. It’s an easy 30-minute walk and you still get a great view of the Torres del Paine and the chance to see native wildlife.
