Lake Katherine Nature Center & Botanic Gardens offers a convenient way to reconnect with nature right in downtown Palos Heights. The 85-acre park spans wetlands, woods, and prairie, with manmade Katherine Lake at its heart. Wander the miles of hiking trails, stop to smell the flowers in the beautifully maintained gardens, or in warmer months, take to the water for canoeing and kayaking. Always keep your eyes open though - the park offers the chance to see local wildlife in their natural habitat, and nesting migratory waterfowl.
