A hike through one of the most biodiverse places on the planet treats visitors to a variety of natural spectacles and exotic wildlife.
Covering 6,952 hectares, Lambir Hills National Park rises 450 meters from lowland dipterocarp and heath forests to lush mountain jungle. This variation makes it one of the world’s most complex and diverse forest ecosystems, which provides a home to 237 different species of birds, various mammals including flying squirrels, gibbons, and deer, and dozens of international research scientists stationed in the park. An interconnected network of hiking trails gives travellers the choice to explore for 20 minutes or several hours. The Latak Waterfall Trail is the shortest, easiest, and most popular route – after following a stream for 20 minutes, and passing 2 smaller waterfalls, you’re rewarded with the sight of the 25 meter Latak fall plummeting into a large forest pool.
