Liesjarvi National Park

Though it only covers 22 square kilometers (8.5 sq mi), some parts of Liesjarvi National Park have been protected for over a century, making it a perfect place to enjoy the natural beauty of the "Land of a Thousand Lakes". There are a number of hiking trails of varying lengths and difficulties that will take you through the rugged forest and pristine lakeside, and offering plenty of opportunities to spot local wildlife. The best known is the Kyynäränharju esker, which will bring you along a thread of land with lakes on both sides. Finish of your Finnish experience with a visit to the Korteniemi forest ranger estate, which is now a heritage farm preserving the traditional rural lifestyle.
