Peru
From its UNESCO-listed historic center to the famous cultural fusion in Chinatown, Peru's capital is awash with culture.
Founded by the Spanish in the 16th century, Lima has since grown into Peru’s political capital, as well as its financial, commercial, and cultural focalpoint, and the 3rd largest city in the Americas. Despite its size, Lima's historic center is well-preserved, and has earned UNESCO recognition for its colonial architecture, which is well-represented by the many elegant churches. Many of the country's most precious historic artefacts are housed in Lima's museums, so it's well-worth taking some time to get some more insights into those famous archaeological sites. If you're looking for something more lively, the districts of Miraflores and Barranco are alive with music and street-art, while the Barrio Chino (Chinatown) is the best place to experience Chifa - Peru's famous Chinese fusion cuisine.
